Police Arrests NPP’s Okatakyie Afrifa Mensah

The Ghana Police Service has reportedly arrested maverick New Patriotic Party’s self acclaimed media personality now turned politican Okatakyie Afrifa Mensah for disrupting NPP internal elections at the Sekyere East Constituency in the Ashanti Region.
He was arrested yesterday during the party’s internal elections for his alleged involvement in the disruption and vandalism that took place at the elections ground.
Prior to the elections, he warned that he was going to block all forms of machinations that some party individuals are putting up to deny some people who are noted to be their opponents from voting, challenging that the album meant for the exercise was hoarded by some individuals.
He argued that the activities of such characters who were bent on using all means to deny true party supporters from exercising their constitutionally mandate to elect their preferred candidates.
The New Patriotic Party on Saturday July 11, 2026 embarked on its nationwide constituency elections mainly to elect new executives ahead of the 2028 general elections but experienced pockets of violent activities which some analysts term it as a very unfortunate and bad precedence for our democracy.
The party is yet to issue an official position on several pockets of disruptions across the country whether to cancel such exercises or maintain the outcome of such incidence.
